Article Schema

Article Schema is a schema.org structured data type used to describe editorial content such as news stories, blog posts, and feature pieces. Key properties include headline, author (linked to a Person or Organization), datePublished, dateModified, image, and publisher. Implementing Article markup helps Google better understand content authorship and publication dates, which can improve accurate dating in search snippets and support eligibility for Top Stories carousel placement alongside AMP or standard web pages. Google does not guarantee a rich result visual enhancement for generic Article markup, but the data feeds into systems that evaluate Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T). Subtype NewsArticle carries additional eligibility for news-specific features. Correctly populating dateModified is particularly important for time-sensitive content so Google reflects the most recent version in its index.
