Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)

Cumulative Layout Shift measures how much visible page content moves around unexpectedly while loading. A high CLS score means buttons, text, or images jump position after the initial render — often because images lack declared dimensions or ads load late. Google considers a CLS score below 0.1 to be good. It is one of the three [Core Web Vitals](/glossary/core-web-vitals).
