Guest Post

A guest post is an article written by an external contributor and published on another website, typically in exchange for credit, exposure, or a backlink to the author’s own site. In moderation, genuine guest posting builds authority, audience, and relationships. However, the practice became heavily abused as a link-building tactic: article farms selling guest posts at scale, low-quality content stuffed with exact-match anchor text links, and paid placements misrepresented as editorial. Google’s John Mueller stated in 2014 that large-scale guest posting for links was a violation of webmaster guidelines. Links within guest posts should be nofollowed or tagged sponsored when there is a commercial arrangement. Despite the caveats, a single well-placed guest article on a genuinely relevant, high-authority site remains a legitimate and effective content marketing strategy.
