RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way for site owners to let you know what new content is available within their web sites. It’s a mechanism for site owners to allow others to easily learn about new articles and content they've posted. A wide range of sites "syndicate" content this way.
What are the benefits of subscribing to an RSS feed?
An RSS allows you to get up-to-date information on new content that has been posted to your sites of interest without the hassle of going to the sites individually and manually trying to find the latest news etc. RSS feeds allow you to do the following things easily:
- read up-to-date news without checking your bookmarked URLs
- view news as soon as it is available, sent straight to your desktop or web site
- filter news according to your own settings
- combine news from a wide range of sources in one location
How do you subscribe to the RSS feed?
Many sites now have the ‘RSS Feed’ button. In order to get the RSS Feeds, first, you must have an RSS reader on your machine/pda. These readers are available for download on the internet. |
