A featured snippet is a highlighted excerpt pulled from a web page and displayed above the regular organic results in Google search — sometimes called "position zero." Google selects text, tables, or lists that directly answer the query and shows the source URL below the extract. Winning a featured snippet increases visibility but can also reduce click-through rates if the answer is complete enough on the results page.
