A pillar page is a long-form page that covers a broad topic comprehensively and serves as the hub of a [topical cluster](/glossary/topical-cluster). It links out to more detailed cluster pages and receives links back from them. Pillar pages typically target high-volume, competitive head terms while the cluster pages handle more specific long-tail queries. The concept was popularised as a content architecture strategy around 2017.
