Spamdexing is a set of methods and techniques that can be used I order to fool search engines and get an unfair advantage in rankings. This can undermine a search engines index as it can reduce the relevancy of searches. However search engines do try to stop all attempts of spamdexing using sfotware to detect it. Pages found to be spamdexing can be de-listed or penalised in some other way.
