| A Jumper is a a type of on/off switch that is actually a tiny metal connector. It is used when altering the configuration of hardware. A jumper is normally made out of two pieces of wire and a piece of metal which when connected together, or switched on, form the circuit. If the connection is broken, the jumper is switched to off. A group of jumpers together, or a jumper block is used to inform the computer of the configuration of a particular device. Jumpers are located on sound cards, motherboards, modems and many more places. |
