| Microsoft Windows has a database of the software installed on the computer and it normally consists of six parts: HKEY_User which contains all the user information for every single user on the system. HKEY_Current _User which has all the current users preferences. HKEY_Current_Configuration which where the printer and display settings are stored. HKEY_Classes_Root which contains OLE information and file assosications. HKEY_Local_Machine which has the installed applications, hardware and operating system settings. HKEY_Dyn_Data which contains some performance data.
