Evergreen Content

Evergreen content is content that remains relevant and useful to readers over a long period of time, in contrast to news articles or trend-led pieces that lose relevance quickly. Examples include how-to guides, definitions, tutorials, and comparison articles on topics with stable underlying demand. Because evergreen content accumulates links, social shares, and ranking history over time, it tends to be the highest-traffic content on most sites. The term does not mean the content never needs updating — even evergreen pages require periodic content refreshes to correct outdated information, update screenshots, and improve comprehensiveness. From an investment perspective, evergreen content offers the best long-term return per piece of effort: a single well-executed guide can drive consistent organic traffic for years with minimal maintenance.
